The American Society of Guatemala (ASG) was founded on June 14, 1960, by a group of American citizens residing in Guatemala City. The Society was created to provide a means for Americans to strengthen community ties, find common interests while living abroad, and learn more about the fascinating culture and history of Guatemala. From its earliest days, membership was for Americans working or doing business in Guatemala and retirees. Eventually, membership was expanded to interested Guatemalans to engage in a more meaningful exchange of ideas about both societies. The American Society of Guatemala is fully recognized as a not-for-profit civil association and is registered with the Superintendencia de Administración Tributaria (SAT). Registration number 132013.
